Our team prioritizes excellence and collaboration, and we are seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)to contribute to our mission.
Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Reports To: Senior Director, Clinical Operations with a dotted line to the Director, Medical Affairs Travel: Up 60-70% travel for site visits Position Overview: The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) – serves as a clinical expert and educator supporting the safe and effective use of Gleolan (aminolevulinic acid hydrochloride) in fluorescence-guided neurosurgery. This position provides advanced clinical guidance, education, and hands-on support to neurosurgeons and perioperative care teams in hospitals across the United States. The CNS plays a pivotal role in ensuring that Gleolan is administered and utilized in accordance with approved indications, hospital protocols, and established standards of patient safety. The position requires a strong foundation in neurosurgical critical care nursing, combined with excellent clinical teaching, communication, and leadership skills.
Professional Education and Continuous Improvement: Conduct in-services, workshops, and continuing education programs for neurosurgical and critical care staff. Stay current with evolving clinical data, literature, and best practices related to fluorescence-guided neurosurgery. Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Medical Science Liaisons, Clinical Operations, and Compliance to ensure alignment and consistency in clinical messaging. Document all educational and clinical activities accurately and in accordance with company policies. Experience and Qualifications: Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in neurosurgical operating room or neurocritical care nursing required. Neurosurgical oncology and gynecologic oncology experience also strongly preferred. Strong understanding of surgical and operating room workflows, sterile technique, and perioperative patient safety standards. Demonstrated excellence in clinical teaching, interdisciplinary collaboration, and professional communication. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and build effective relationships across hospital systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual education platforms. Willingness to travel nationally up to 60–70% of the time occasionally including weekends. Experience with intraoperative imaging technologies (including fluorescence guided surgery, image guided navigation, or surgical visualization systems). Prior experience in clinical education, nurse consulting, or industry-based field support. Familiarity with hospital onboarding, credentialing, and compliance processes related to surgical support functions. Ability to obtain and maintain hospital vendor accreditation and access. Education: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred; BSN accepted with extensive relevant work experience.
Provide expert clinical education and case support to surgical, perioperative, and intensive care teams using Gleolan for currently approved indications as well as for our investigational clinical development programs. Deliver on-site and virtual training on Gleolan administration, workflow integration, and intraoperative fluorescence guided surgical techniques. Support hospitals during live surgical cases to ensure proper handling, timing, and safety measures are observed. Educate postoperative teams on phototoxicity precautions and patient monitoring protocols. Assist institutions in developing, implementing, and refining policies and procedures related to Gleolan use. Partner with pharmacy, neurosurgery, and OR leadership to ensure proper product preparation, administration, and storage. Serve as a clinical resource during hospital onboarding, certification, and new site activation processes. Provide consultative support to improve workflow efficiency and compliance with best practices. Serve as a liaison between hospitals and NXDC internal teams to escalate issues, capture adverse event reports and other feedback, and support continuous improvement.
