The Clinical Review Specialist provides support to facilities participating in the implementation of the Guidelines and Evaluation Criteria as they progress toward assessment and continue to improve between assessments. Reviews and provides feedback on documents to be reviewed during assessment. Conducts telephone/videoconference interviews with facilities in a private home space.
Licensed RN with 5 years+ of hospital maternity care experience and IBCLC or CLC credentialed, required. Current working knowledge of the Guidelines and Evaluation Criteria as well as knowledge of evidence-based maternity practices to support lactation. Knowledge of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Private space for home office with ability to hold videoconference calls without service disruption. Must have secure network. ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES: Provide professional clinical support to an assigned caseload of facilities pursuing the initial or maintaining the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) accreditation. Actively contribute as a team member. Understanding of the Guidelines and Evaluation Criteria (GEC). Ability provide feedback in a timely manner to facilities using excellent critical thinking, verbal, written, and organizational skills. Regular, predictable attendance and adherence to assigned schedule are required, as business demands dictate. PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, sit for extended periods of time, stand, bend, stoop down, kneel, perform repetitive motions using hands to fingers, handle, reach with hands and arms; lift/carry and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds; perform other physical activities as needed. Role uses a computer 100% of the time, engaging near and mid vision. Ability to frequently and clearly communicate (talk and hear) and visual acuity are required. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The job is performed in an approved private remote work environment using secure, uninterrupted videoconferencing bandwidth to participate in videoconferencing. Potential of travel outside of office work duties. Moderate noise expected. Ability to sit at a computer terminal and meetings for an extended period.
Maintains confidentiality of facility and BFUSA confidential business information. Supports customers through timely and quality responses to questions by providing technical assistance to facilities who are seeking the Baby-Friendly designation or re-designation. Able to coordinate workload using excellent time management practices and able to work in a team-based environment. Evaluates and records facility progress in all phase requirements. Review and provide feedback on documents including but, not limited to: Infant Feeding Policy Data collection and quality improvement plan for maternity care and infant feeding Direct Care Staff and Direct Care Provider Competency Verification and Training Plans Patient education plans Work plans Audit Tools for Steps 1-10 Fair Market Code Compliance Verification Form Hosts Readiness Assessment Interview calls and provides feedback in support and preparing facility for assessment. Using the appropriate standardized tools, prepares comments to be shared with birthing facilities on the reviewed documents. Preserves all documents and the versions of reviews by working on and storing them in the individual facility folder. Works with the assigned BFUSA team members to ensure document submission, and other feedback are accurately reflected in the facility records. Assists with the development of materials and tools as assigned. Provides comments and feedback on tools and materials developed by colleagues. Works closely with other Clinical Review Specialists and Baby-Friendly team to address emerging issues as the BFHI continues to grow in the U.S. Provides contact to facility as needed. Other duties as assigned.
