Pay Grade: O The Healthcare Facility Regulation Division (HFRD) is looking for Nurse Surveyors to help inspect healthcare facilities for rules and regulations compliance. Learn more in our campaign video. Minimum requirements include being a Registered Professional Nurse, OR having a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from accredited college or university, AND 5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse. DCH is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Compliance Nurse 2, Specialized Care Unit with the Healthcare Facility Regulation Division. This is a homebased position that will document and conduct on-site surveys and requires statewide travel. Assignments may require up to 90% overnight travel. Occasional weekend and after-hours work may also be required.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of experience as a Registered Nurse, two (2) years of which in an administrative or supervisory capacity and current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse; OR eight (8) years of experience as a Registered Nurse (HCP073) or position equivalent, two (2) years of which in an environment related to the area of assignment (Specialized Care), four (4) years of which as a supervisor and current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse. Note: Some positions may require a certification or licensure. Possession of a valid Georgia driver's license, which would enable the applicant to drive in Georgia, and use of a car at work, are required for employees in this job. Note: This position requires at least one year of recent clinical experience in dialysis working as a registered nurse (RN) at a healthcare facility that provides clinical care to dialysis patients and residents. Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in a Specialized Care setting, preferably with supervisory, administrative or regulatory oversight responsibilities. Experience with quality improvement, regulatory compliance, utilization review or survey/audit functions in healthcare. Strong documentation, writing, organizational and time-management skills; ability to communicate effectively. Proficiency with computer/office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and possibly electronic medical records/survey tools. Healthcare background: preferably direct facility or survey experience in dialysis, Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF/IDD), Rural Health Clinics (RHC) or another regulated setting. Ability to function independently, travel extensively (often up to ~90% statewide, overnight, sometimes weekends or after-hours) and work in a home-based / remote environment if required. The Compliance Nurse 2 under general to limited supervision, conducts on-site surveys of End-Stage Renal Disease Centers (ESRD), Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF/IDD), Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (CORF), and Rural Health Clinics (RHC) that are regulated by the state to determine compliance with applicable state and/or federal rules and regulations. May be asked to cross trained to survey multiple facility types as needed. Surveys are conducted either independently or as a part of a multi-disciplinary team using both an automated and a written survey process to review the quality of nursing care delivered in federal and licensed End-Stage Renal Disease Centers (ESRD), Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF/IDD), Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (CORF), and Rural Health Clinics (RHC). Additionally, this position performs the following: Reviews, monitors and ensures compliance with the Specialized Care program's policies and procedures. Evaluates highly complex medical situations and prepares survey documents under strict deadlines. Responsible for overseeing the evaluation of the quality of nursing care delivered in End-Stage Renal Disease Centers (ESRD), Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF/IDD), Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (CORF), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) facilities, and Rural Health Clinics (RHC). Plans and organizes the survey according to the facility's services, size and compliance history. Gathers data to determine compliance with applicable guidelines through on-site interviews with facility staff and/or clients, observation of procedures, inspection of environment and/or equipment, and review of applicable records. Compiles report of findings and deficiencies with appropriate evidence to support deficiency. May recommend adverse actions if appropriate and may communicate initial findings to the facility. During a follow-up survey, reviews and assesses a facility's compliance with a Plan of Correction and timeliness of corrective actions. Focuses survey in response to the priority of client's needs and/or complaints, and as findings emerge, changes survey focus accordingly. Coordinates activities with appropriate agencies. May assist in providing training and guidance to newly employed surveyors. Expected to remain current on both federal and state requirements for End-Stage Renal Disease Centers (ESRD), Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF/IDD), Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (CORF), and Rural Health Clinics (RHC) through regular training and review of materials. May serve as team lead worker. Other duties as assigned.
