The Med Info Spec - Nurse role at Thermo Fisher Scientific is an outstanding opportunity to contribute to our mission of making the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. Located in Wilmington, NC, you will play a key role in our Medical Communications division, providing world-class medical information services and supporting critical clinical trials. The working shift for this position is variable and rotates weekly, between 11:00 am - 7:00 pm EST and 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm EST. Weekends, holidays, and on call shifts are required.
Education: Bachelor's degree and equivalent experience in Nursing and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification. Experience: Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job. Active RN license or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) equivalency. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient computer and keyboarding skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to interpret complex medical and technical information. Organizational and time management skills. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor in demanding situations. Physical Requirements / Work Environment: Work performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Constant interaction with clients and associates. Daily exposure to high pressure, intense concentration needed. Rotating shifts required, primarily supporting evening hours of 11am-7pm or Noon-8pm EST. Support after-hours on-call assistance on a rotating basis, ensuring 24/7 coverage. Frequently stationary for 6-8 hours per day. Occasional mobility and light to moderate lifting required.
Respond accurately and professionally to technical and medical information inquiries via phone, email, internet, or mail regarding pharmaceutical or device products. Process fulfillments, provide clinical trial information, and offer after-hours on-call support. Analyze caller questions to formulate accurate and concise responses using client-approved resources. Identify, record, and triage adverse events and product complaints according to guidelines, providing additional support as needed. Maintain detailed knowledge of project and corporate policies, including SOPs, protocols, and regulatory requirements. Work closely with internal and external client contacts to resolve complex inquiries, researching medical literature and drafting responses when necessary.
