Job Description

Hopeful for those we support, rebellious in our approach, and collaborative by breaking down barriers, AccessHope is seeking an Oncology Support Nurse to help us uniquely deploy the latest cancer knowledge to the places it’s needed most. As an ideal candidate, you’ll be responsible for using your knowledge in oncology nursing and abstraction to support case preparation and support our member call center. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to knowledge sharing while providing important information to those faced with a cancer diagnosis. Your empathetic nature and understanding voice will help callers improve quality of life outcomes through emotional support, and information sharing about their cancer and benefits ecosystem through their employer.

Requirements

Required Qualifications: Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; AA and 2 years of experience plus min experience may substitute for minimum education requirements Minimum Experience: Three (3) or more years of related experience working in clinical oncology, research oncology, telephonic nursing support or similar clinical RN experience. Required Certification/Licensure: Current RN license; Required to be licensed in all 50 states within 6 months of hire Preferred Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing Pref. Certification/Licensure: Multi-State RN license, OCN, ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certification Preferred Experience: Five (5) or more years of experience Telephonic Nursing Support, Triage Nursing, Telehealth Nursing, fluent in Spanish (speak, read, write) Experience as a clinical research coordinator/nurse. Experience working in a remote environment. Responsibilities

Member Call Center Support: Answer calls and provide non-clinical support to callers in understanding their specific type of cancer, diagnostic testing, staging, treatment, side effects, screening, prevention. Direct callers to general support through publicly available discussion sites, trusted informational materials or website links and provide guidance to prepare for doctor visits with questions to ask. Present and maintain a high level of empathy and knowledge over the phone through mindful communication style, word choice, and tone. Appropriately re-direct members to their care team for decision making regarding their treatment, side effects, and all other needs in relation to their cancer journey Follow established procedures for preparation, documentation and follow up Contribute to maintaining or improving our established NPS Score provide service recovery when score dips. Member Records Reviews: Contribute to the creation of oncology abstract narratives for specialty physician review. Organizing relevant records including oncology history, scans, labs, path reports and other files related to the cancer diagnosis and treatment, in order to create oncology summaries Using established workflows, document workflow process in our electronic data system, ensure attention to detail assuring steps of the process are followed to assure consistency and prevent errors in work Contribute to department continuous improvement by sharing ideas, supporting team engagement, testing ideas and working on project-based improvement opportunities Demonstrate excellent attention to detail in the review of medical records and abstract relevant oncology history including scans, labs, path reports, and other pertinent records for physician review. Follow operational workflow regarding type of case requested, member records, qualify member cases and prepare case for physician review. Support testing various workflow through pilot projects, and implementing change to improve efficiencies General Role Parameters: Assures daily tasks and workflow is detailed and captured per electronic reporting to assure metric expectation are accomplished Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining exceptional service Completes expected assigned tasks in support of clinical operations including but not limited to member cases, member portal needs, and scheduled call appointments Utilizes all available technologies and other streamlined methods to improve efficiencies in daily work activities Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality
