Job Summary Special Deliveries Midwifery is seeking a compassionate, organized, and experienced RN or LPN to join our growing team as a Remote Phone Triage Nurse. We are a faith-based, family-centered midwifery practice dedicated to providing personalized, holistic care for women and families. Our practice serves a diverse community, including many Amish families, and we value kindness, respect, compassion, and relationship-centered care. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys supporting families, has excellent critical thinking skills, and shares our commitment to treating every patient with dignity, patience, and compassion. This is a fully remote position and would be ideal for someone returning to the nursing field or slowing down. Duties • Conduct thorough patient assessments over the phone, including evaluating symptoms, medical history, and current health status • Answer patient questions and provide education regarding pregnancy, postpartum, newborn care, medications, and procedures. • Interpret laboratory results and communicate provider recommendations. • Explain procedures and provider recommendations in an easy-to-understand manner. • Schedule appointments and coordinate referrals. • Create new patient charts and maintain accurate electronic medical records. • Review and audit existing charts for medical alerts, medications, allergies, and health conditions. • Prepare and send provider orders. • Fax records and communicate with outside offices. • Utilize medical terminology and basic ICD-10 coding as needed. • Assist with other administrative and clinical support duties to help our practice run smoothly. • Provide clear, detailed instructions for self-care, medication administration, or emergency procedures based on patient needs. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate follow-up care, including referrals for specialty services • Document all interactions accurately in electronic health records while maintaining HIPAA compliance and ensuring confidentiality. • Requirements • Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication. • Comfortable with computers and electronic medical records. • Ability to work independently while remaining organized and efficient. • Knowledge of medical terminology. • Familiarity with ICD-10 coding is helpful but not required. • Current RN or LPN license The ideal candidate is: • Compassionate, patient, and kind. • A self-starter with excellent organizational skills. • Comfortable making clinical decisions over the phone. • Respectful and understanding of the Amish/plain community and their unique healthcare needs. • Knowledgeable about natural and holistic approaches to care—or willing to learn. • Passionate about providing personalized, family-centered maternity care. • Someone who appreciates working in a faith-based practice where compassion, integrity, and service are at the heart of what we do. • Obstetrics (OB), postpartum, or newborn experience preferred • Phone triage or outpatient nursing experience is a plus If you're looking to step away from the stress of bedside nursing without leaving patient care, this may be the perfect fit.
