The RN I Intake is an experienced nurse who serves as the initial point of contact to patients referred to the Hematology/Oncology department. The RN reviews the patient’s clinical status, medical history, and referral order to determine the most appropriate next steps for the patient and then utilizes our departmental guidelines to schedule the patient’s consultation within an appropriate timeframe. The RN collects outside medical records and assists patients to schedule necessary diagnostic tests prior to their consultation. The RN will demonstrate clinical assessment expertise, triage expertise, and outstanding customer service throughout interactions with patients, caregivers, and referring providers.
